The Health Shop Association of South Africa -
The need for a unified and functional health shop association is essential in order for this section of the complementary medicines industry to be able to address issues, particularly legislative issues, in a responsible and united way.
Over the years health shop associations have come and gone mainly due to the fact that the administration of such an association is time consuming. The HPA has the infrastructure to manage associations and they have agreed to take over the administration and management of a formalised Health Shop Association.

The Health Shop Association will receive regular and responsible communication on issues of importance to this sector in particular. The Health Shop Association will have representation on the Executive Council of the HPA and will therefore be informed of what is happening overall in the complementary medicines industry. When issues of importance occur the members of the Health Shop Association will be informed and advised on what action to take or not take. The Health Shop Association members will receive the quarterly newsletter HPA Headlines which is informative and gives up-to-date information on the affairs of the CAMS industry locally and internationally.

The HPA will administer and keep updated a database of health shop owners to ensure that should urgent information need to be circulated this can be done quickly and efficiently. A small membership fee will be charged and members will need to complete appropriate membership forms etc. A Constitution will be prepared and the Health Shop Association will have its own logo. The Health Shop Association will meet in Johannesburg, Durban & CT twice a year or when required.

This formalised Association will be known as The Health Shop Association of South Africa.
